What is Food Poisoning?

Food poisoning is a digestive problem which is caused by the consumption of unhygienic food. It is characterized by vomiting, dehydration, diarrhea and nausea in normal cases while in severe condition it can cause bloody stools and nervous damage as well. Therefore this mild digestive problem can turn into life threatening condition if symptoms persist for a long time and no proper treatment is carried out.

Those people whose immune systems are not strong enough to tolerate the bacterial and virus infections are more likely to become the next victim of this gastric disease. Moreover the travelers who visit from one place to another and try different types of unhygienic and unhealthy foods mostly suffer from severe food poisoning issues which is also known as traveler’s diarrhea or Montezuma’s revenge.

According to a survey conducted by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) United States, almost 75 million gastric problems are caused by food poisoning which results in more than 5000 deaths per year. Such grave death toll causing due to mild to severe gastric problems not only disturbs country’s manpower but also put huge financial burden on its economy in the form of millions of dollars spent on general health care.
